File Sync and File Transfer Using EDpCloud Software

Enterprise file synchronization and automated file transfer

EDpCloud enterprise  file sync and file transfer is an enterprise cross platform file replication software solution. EDpCloud completely automates the synchronization process and securely synchronizes data between systems and branch offices.

Any file and directory on a server can be swiftly synchronized in real-time or on a schedule using EDpCloud software. File synchronization uses any TCP/IP network; hence the software is capable of syncing files from and to any location. EDpCloud file sync allows the user to share/synchronize data between work groups and processes; data shared between remote groups can be readily accessed by any authorized user. EnduraData’s data sync and replication software works with any platform, from Mac and Windows to Linux and Solaris; other synchronization. The data replication solution features  include:

  • Use any type of storage (NAS, SAN, DAS, etc).
  • Use any file system (etx2, ext3, XFS, CXFS, NFS, CIFS, FAT, and NFS support).
  • Use a LAN, a private network or the internet.
  • Open file support
  • Delta file sync
  • Real time sync
  • Scheduled file sync
  • On demand adhoc  file sync
  • File pattern inclusion or exclusion policies
  • Pause / Resume replication.

Data synchronization performance

Data synchronization using EDpCloud is a quick and efficient process. With delta updates, only portions of changed files and directories are synchronized, and, as a result, bandwidth usage and risks are substantially reduced; furthermore, EDpCloud detects conflict and uses priority updates.

Advanced synchronization algorithms reduce windows of vulnerability to data loss and make data more readily available in a remote location; additionally, these algorithms reduce the network traffic (bandwidth use), increase the speed of synchronization, and make use of data deduplication technology during file transfer. Because EDpCloud is a multi-threaded software, servers that have multiple processors will be used to their fullest capacity. Through dynamic, intelligent data compression, the amount of time required for synchronization is decreased. EDpCloud, also, has strong journaling capabilities; strong journaling (1) reduces the effect of link and network failures, (2) resumes from where data replication left off, (3) is resilient and saves time, and (4) reduces windows of vulnerability.

Monitoring and logging file sync and data transfer events

EDpCloud comes with numerous monitoring and logging tools. Detailed logs and reports are kept for:

  • Synchronization and file transfer activity
  • Files pending
  • Estimated number of bytes pending
  • Estimated time to finish synchronization
  • Sender name/IP
  • Receiver name/IP
  • File changes (operation type)
  • Bytes changed
  • Remote file sync status

These stats and logs help system administrators monitor the data transfer and the performance of various networks.

Furthermore, alerts are sent to system administrators when a sync and file transfer failure occurs (i.e. when a receiver is unreachable). Customized reports are generated and emailed to the system’s manager.
